Back in October, my parents came for 2 weeks to visit us in Albany. It was the best!!! We had so much fun with them and were sad to see them go. They were so helpful with the boys and the boys were elated to have grandma and grandpa staying in the "cabin" aka guest room. We were able to go to Boston for a few days, drove up to Saratoga one afternoon, took a scenic drive through Vermont to New Hampshire, went to the annual Trunk or Treat, trick or treating with grandpa, shopping in the snow at the outlets, eating out, and took lots of pictures of leaves! My dad was loving the fall leaves. Ryan and I even got to go on a hot date one night while they watched the boys. Bliss. We don't get out much. My mom cleaned up the house after we all went to bed every night and T was on garbage duty. It was fabulous! I just love my parents. Thanks again for coming to visit us!

I'm finally getting around to posting about our first set of visitors!! At the beginning of October, Rach and Brett came to NY for a week. It was so much fun to have them here!! The week went by WAY too fast. They got here on a Wednesday night then drove up to Palmyra on Thursday. They got back to Albany Friday night, just in time for an ice cream trip to Emack and Bolio's. On Saturday, we went for a group jog, then Brett and Ryan tore up part of our basement. After that, we drove up to Saratoga for window shopping and dinner. And Ben and Jerry's of course! Sunday was Stake Conference and relaxation time. Sadly, they did not get to experience the branch. Monday, they took an early train to NYC. It was their first time there and they loved every second of it. They came back to Albany late Tuesday night bearing glorious treats from Levaine Bakery and Magnolia's. Amazing cookies and banana pudding. Wednesday, we hung out until they had to leave to go back to AZ. It was a fun-filled week and so great to have them here!! Can't wait until next time, Cunninghams!!

I can't believe September is already over. Seriously -where does the time go? But I'm pretty excited that it is finally October! Because you know what October means - visitors, fall colors and Halloween! So much fun to be had in the month of October! Yep, Rach and Brett will be here on Wednesday for a week then a week later my parents come! We are practically bursting at the seams with excitement around here. The weather is getting cooler and the leaves are turning all sorts of colors. It really is my favorite time of year out here.

Griffin is still loving pre-school. He's even been more obedient and helpful since starting school. I could get used to this!

Griffy has been into ice cream cones lately, which means Hudson has too. He has to have whatever Griff is having. I love watching toddlers devour ice cream. Such a sticky mess!

I know it's not Halloween quite yet, but Griffin got his Dash costume last week and I think it's so funny when he wears it. He runs around the house as fast as he can and truly believes it makes him faster. The mask is my favorite.

When I took this picture, I told Hudson to say cheese. He gave me this look instead. I was dying. Love him.

I can't get over his face.

I often have visions of my boys and I sitting quietly whilst coloring or making crafts. Um, not a chance. It's either wrestle mania, building towers with the couch cushions or pillow fights on the bed. But I love it. And those 2 rascals.

Carolin, Lina, the boys and I went to an apple farm a few weeks ago. We picked up some fresh, honey crisp apples and snacked on the famous apple cider donuts. A must do during the fall out here!

Griffin's 1st Day

Griffin started pre-school on Monday! He was so excited to go to school and kept asking me how many more wake ups?? Hudson and I walked in with him. He got right to business coloring and checking out Mr. Skittles - the class hamster. I kissed him good-bye and he hardly noticed I left. Griffy is so social and loves to make friends, so I knew he would love pre-school. I'm so glad he's having such a fun time!

This kid is all about comfort when it comes to his clothes. He loves sweat pants and basketball shorts. Oh, and he had to have the Cars light up shoes, much to my dismay. It was only a matter of time.

Mini Ryan

Hudson is a little lost without Griff when he's at pre-school. He loves to be where Griffy is except when he's crying and hanging on my leg. I can already see the differences in their personalities. We can already tell Hudson is gonna give us a run for our money! Like how he threw a toy car into the toilet while Griffin was peeing. Awesome.

Thomas the Train

A few weekends ago, we decided to take the boys to ride Thomas the Train. It was in a small town about an hour away. The train ride was 25 minutes along the Hudson River. They had bounce houses, train tables, story time and a gift shop to entertain us after the train ride. The boys had so much fun and it was nice to get out of town and do something different for a few hours. We also hit some outlets and Ben and Jerry's on the way home. Always a plus!

August Happs

August has been quite an eventful month. We survived an earthquake and a hurricane and Hudson started walking! Lots of excitement in Albany these days! Unfortunately, I didn't get to feel the earthquake. I've always wanted to. And fortunately, the hurricane didn't wipe out our house. Our basement leaked and church was canceled, but other than that, it was just lots of rain and wind. On another note, Hudson started walking and hasn't stopped since. He feels it is now his job to destroy the house and eat otter pops all day. And be my third leg. Griffy is over the top excited to start pre-school in a week. And come to find out, he really does love his brother. I picked him up from his friend's house the other day and asked him if he had fun. He said, "It wasn't that fun because Hudson wasn't there." Aww, melts my heart.

The boys and I made a trip out west to AZ for 3 weeks. It was fabulous, to say the least. We had so much fun!

Highlights include:

Not gonna lie. It's always hard to leave AZ and fly back to NY. I always shed a few tears. It usually takes me a day to bounce back and get into my groove again. Ry is so patient with me and even built us a bigger closet while we were gone. Yep, I got a good one!

My Birthday Boys

Both Ryan and Hudson had birthdays this week. Ry turned 31 on the 11th and Hudson turned 1 on the 15th! It was a fun-filled birthday week at our house!

For Ry's birthday, we actually got a babysitter and went out to dinner just the 2 of us! It was fabulous. We got to talk and eat in peace. We ate at PF Changs then came home and had ice cream cake with the boys.

For Hudson's birthday, we got him balloons, which he loves, and a book that sings and talks. He loved holding his balloon and says, "Wow" every time he sees it. We sang to him and walked to Stewart's for ice cream cones. We can't get enough of our Bubbers! He melts our hearts and makes us laugh. He says "hi" when anyone walks into the room. He says "wow" anytime he sees a balloon, bird or airplane. He will crawl around the house until he finds me. He loves to be by Griffy and wants everything Griffin has. He loves to take drinks from our cups. He loves stroller rides, dancing to music, crawling and climbing on the couch, playing outside, wrestling with daddy and being by my side. He is a lover and we are so thankful he is ours.

Hudson loves, loves his big brother. Today, Griffy rode around the house with Bubbers on the plasma car. Hudson was in heaven! It was so cute to watch them ride together.

On another note, Ryan, finished his first year of residency and is now a 2nd year!! I feel like a proud mother when I think of all the hours and hard work he has put in at the hospital. I'm pretty sure they try to work them to death the first year. And Ry survived it! It was a crazy year full of lots of changes. And I don't do well with change. But we made it and have adjusted to life in NY. We miss our families, of course, but we've grown as our own little family. Just 3 more years of Anesthesia to go! This year actually went by fast, so let's hope the next 3 fly by too. I love Ry so much and am so thankful for all he does for our family. I asked Griffin what he wants to be when he grows up and he said, "A doctor just like daddy." Bless his future wife.

July 4th Weekend

For the July 4th weekend, we took a trip to Rhode Island. Ry actually got a few days off of work so we were able to go. It took a little over 3 hours to get there. We had SO much fun! It was so nice to get away and go to the beach. The boys loved playing in the sand and jumping the waves. We had perfect weather and the scenery was beautiful. The houses on the coast are adorable. We went to Newport beach on Saturday. On Sunday, we took a scenic drive to Cape Cod. And ended our trip on Monday with another beach day. We got home just in time to see the last 10 minutes of fireworks! It was a fabulous fourth!!

Hudson was the sand man. He ate it, crawled in it, dug it up. He loved the sand.

Griffy loved the sand too. But he didn't eat it. He loved building sand castles and digging holes. I love that the beach is so entertaining for kids!

You better believe I found a frozen yogurt place in Providence. It was delicious!

Cape Cod was gorgeous! So green and the coast was so pretty.

Since we don't have Texas Roadhouse in Albany, we hit one up in Massachusetts. Love those rolls and cinnamon butter!!

Miracle

It's a miracle. A Father's Day miracle to be exact. I surprised Ryan with a present for Father's day that he actually likes and is going to keep!! This might be a first in our 7 1/2 years of marriage. Either he figures out the present before I give it to him or he takes it back. Mostly both. But this time I was confident in my gift giving abilities and it was a success! It kind of felt like Mother's day instead of Father's day because I was so excited about the victory.

Last October, I bought in to all the hype about the Nike Free shoes. I love to run and needed a change. I purchased my first pair and it was instant love. Seriously. Comfortable and oh so light! I quickly became obsessed and even talked my dad into buying some. He loves them too! I just bought my second pair and felt it was time for Ry to partake of the goodness. So, I got them for Father's day and surprised him the day before with his new pair of life-changing shoes. He is still deciding which color he likes best, so he hasn't worn them yet. But he's keeping them and likes them and that all that matters! Woohoo!

I had to document this because it may be another 7 years until this happens again.

Summer Fun

I have to admit, New York summers are pretty darn nice. The temps haven't gotten above 85 during the day and the nights are calm and cool. It does get humid, which I'm still getting used to, but I can't complain. I'll take a warm, humid day over an ice cold, winter day anytime! Plus, I don't have to do my hair that often because it just turns to frizz. Or maybe because I don't go anywhere. That too. Anyways, we are loving summer and try to go outside as much as we can. It doesn't get dark here until 9pm, so we usually take late night rides and walks. My favorite.

My friend, Katie, from our branch took us to a lake. She brought her kayak. To say that Griffy liked the kayak, would be an understatement. He was in it most of the day except when I forced him to eat a sandwich and skip rocks.

Hudders loved playing on the shore. He kept trying to eat the rocks. Don't worry mom, I watched him closely!

Griffin mastered the proper rowing techniques by the end of the day. He even went out for a ride by himself! Again, mom, don't worry, Katie swam behind him the whole time.

Hudson loves, loves to be outside. He will crawl out the back door and sit on the doorstep to watch the birds and planes fly by. He loves to dig in the dirt and get muddy. We put him in the kitchen sink to wash off and he thought it was so fun. I can't believe my babe will be a year next month!!

Spring Sports

For the last 2 months, Griff has been learning how to play t-ball and soccer at a YMCA nearby. He went once a week for 2 hours. He loved going and running around with the other kids in his class. It was more like organized chaos. I'm not sure how much he learned, but he had fun!

It was indoors because the weather here is so unpredictable. Griff's hair was always wet by the end!

Next year, he will get to play the city sports and actually play games against other teams. Just like his cousin Wyatt. He is really looking forward to that.

The Week

Hudson LOVES to play in the fridge. He likes to pull daddy's diet pepsi bottle out and play with it.

I can't get over his cheesy grin and 4 teeth.

Griffin hung this bag of Doritos on the fridge. I know, we've got class over here. Hudson thought it was a great toy! I promise we eat fruits and veggies too.

On Memorial Day, we ate at 5 Guys then went to a fun park. It has lots of walking/bike trails and a really fun playground. Griffin insisted we take his paper airplane to fly.

Ry only had to go in to work for a few hours that day, so we got him to ourselves for the rest of it!

My friend, Nicole, and I ran a half marathon on Saturday morning. There were 55 runners total. We ran along the tree-lined highway, up and down hills. We were out in the country surrounded by green farmland. It was gorgeous. The weather was perfect. Sunny and 65 degrees. I couldn't stop thinking about the beauty around me. I felt good when I finished and feel so grateful for the opportunity to run in such a neat race. And, yes, I actually have friends out here! Sadly, this girl is moving to Arizona this week. I will miss her so much. But I will get to see her every time I visit!

Last night, we took a family bike ride around the neighborhood. The sun was setting and there was a slight, cool breeze. One of our neighbors was having a BBQ and the smell made my mouth water. Everything is so green right now. I looked at Ryan and said this is what I hoped a summer night in NY would be like. He almost fell off of his bike!

Grandma Tucker

My Grandma Tucker passed away on April 28th. She was 86 years old. She had heart problems for the past few years and it eventually caught up to her. But that never stopped my grandma from having fun and living life. She was such a great example to our family of faith and service. My grandma Ruth loved her family, had many friends and loved to travel. She was always well-dressed with cute jewelry to match. She was very supportive of her grandkids and never missed our birthdays. She came to both of my graduations, my wedding and visited soon after I had Griffin. I love my grandma so much and feel sad to think she is gone. But I know I will see her again, and that is all that matters.

She passed away while Nat was visiting us in Albany, so Nat, the kids and I flew to Salt Lake together to attend her funeral. I was debating on making the trip out, but I'm so glad I did. It was so great to be with family to celebrate my grandma's life.

Plus, I got a bonus visit to see my cute sisters, Ryan's family, and my parents.

It was like old times just the 4 of us. I love my brother and sisters so much. A fun memory for sure! P.S. Red Mango was amazing. I dream about it.

At the end of April, Nat and Lucy came all the way from LA to visit us in NY! Lucky us! We had so much fun hanging out with those cute girls. It was dreamy. Visitors are like gold out here! I loved having someone to talk to and do stuff with all day. We went running together, shopping, went to the museum, Sam's Club, Dinosaur BBQ, Chipotle and Saratoga Springs. We basically hit all of Albany's hot spots! Yep, pretty exciting around these parts. Griff had fun keeping tabs on Lucy and updating Nat and I on what she was doing every second. Let's just say he likes his personal space and we may have called him the Hall Monitor a few times. Hudson loved stealing Lucy's bottle whenever he got the chance. And Lucy loved following the boys around in all her sass.

Sisters are the best. I miss living so close to both of my sisters and miss them everyday. They are my best friends. Maybe having a sister wife isn't such a bad idea!

While we were visiting in AZ, our nephew, Porter, received the Aaronic Priesthoodl. I still can't believe he's 12! I remember so well when he was born. He was the chubbiest, cutest baby and had lots of dark hair. Now, he is a blond stud who loves to listen to music, make jokes and ride his skateboard. Love you Port. I'm so glad I could be there for your special day!

I am a desert rat through and through. One day, we will live in Arizona again. Until then, I'll just have to visit every 3 months!!

While we were in AZ during March, Ryan's cousin, Lacy, got married. Ryan actually surprised us all and came a few days early to be able to be there for the wedding. It was so fun! Lacy is the cutest, funnest, nicest girl you will ever meet. I love her to pieces! And the best part, she married a boy from AZ! Now we will get to see her when we visit and eventually move back. She was a beautiful bride! Her husband is the nicest too. They are such a fun couple! We are so glad we got to be there to celebrate with them.

Cali Trip

The boys and I headed to AZ a few weeks ago for our much anticipated spring visit. Let's be honest, 30 degree temps for 4 months straight - not my thing. A week after we got to AZ, we drove to LA to go to the Ellen Show. Nat got tickets and we just couldn't pass up the offer! I've always wanted to go to a taping of a show, so I'm glad I finally got to do it. It was SO much fun!!

On February 13th, Griffin turned 4. He was beyond excited for his birthday this year. For the last month, he has asked me everyday if it was his birthday. I'm so glad i finally came! He loved every second of celebrating!!

Birthday Expectations

When it comes to my birthday, I have high expectations. My sisters are like this too. We have our mom to thank for it. She always spoiled us on our birthdays and we loved every minute of it. We got to miss school, go shopping, out to lunch, out to dinner with our family, have parties and choose the meal for Sunday dinner. She would decorate the house with birthday signs, give us presents and buy us our favorite cake from 31 Flavors or Dairy Queen. Yep, my mom knows how to do a birthday! And I love that about her! She still spoils us to this day.

So when I got married and moved away, I was a little worried that my husband wouldn't be able to meet my birthday expectations. But every year, he comes through and meets my birthday expectations. And I love him for that!

My birthday was last month, but here was the agenda for my big day:

We are up to our necks in snow. It's freezing. We haven't left the house for 3 days. I'm SO over it. I can't figure out why people want to live where it snows. Seriously.

Well, it only took us about 6 months to do a little decorating to make our house more of a home. I had a baby shower here on Saturday, so that was our motivation. Still not done yet, but getting closer. I love our house. I really do. Just wish it was in a warmer climate! The temps are in the teens these days. The teens! Crazy.

Last night, I had a dream.

One of those dreams that feels so real you breathe a sigh of relief when you wake up to find that it wasn't real.

Ryan had just finished his first year of residency in Albany. We had to move to Alaska for his remaining 3 years. We were moving the next day and I had big knots in my stomach. I was saying good-bye to friends and really dreading the move to Alaska.

Then, I woke up. I was beyond relieved to be in my warm bed in Albany. Not moving to Alaska.

Moral of the story:

Could be worse. Could be Alaska!

Griffin got a certificate for Build-a-Bear for Christmas. We took him on New Year's Eve to build his bear. He loved every second of it. Meet Berry the bear.

Sometimes Griff forgets that he named him Berry and calls him Ruby instead. The name of his new friend at church.

After Build-a-Bear, we went to Chipotle for New Year's Eve dinner. We love Chipotle. It's the closest thing to mexican food here in Albany. We'll take what we can get! I'm obsessed with the veggie burrito and their salty chips. Yum.

Then, we headed home for some bubbly before Ry had to go to work. Nothin' like ringing in the new year at 8 o'clock! I still got my kiss though! Later on, we watched Finding Nemo (for the umpteenth time) and called it a night. I know - we are party animals over here!!

Hudson decided to ring in the New Year by rolling all over the house. I found him under the Christmas tree the other day. Love that little roller. P.S. I dusted under the radiator after I saw this pic. Gross.

Cheers to 2011!

I never thought I'd be in Albany, NY in 2011. Never in a million years. In fact, exactly one year ago, Ryan flew to Albany to interview for their residency program. I was a few months pregnant with Hudson. Griffy and I were driving over to Rach's house to hang out and I called Ry, crying, telling him I didn't want to move to Albany. I couldn't do it. I didn't want to move across the country with a newborn. I didn't want to live so far away from our families and friends. I didn't want life to change. But when it comes to medical school or residency, you don't have much of a choice. And, what do you know, here we are in Albany. Clear across the country. Far away from our families and friends. (And all good mexican food). And despite my occasional meltdowns, I am actually surviving and adapting to life here. Yes, it's hard. Yes, we get bored. Yes, we miss our families. Yes, we are freezing. But we are alive and we are happy and have so many blessings and that's what's important.

So cheers to 2011!

Christmas in NY

Christmas this year was different. We didn't have our families to celebrate with. No family or friend parties to attend. No cousins to play with on Christmas day. It was just the 4 of us. It was different, but it was good! Ryan had to work Christmas Eve night, so we started our festivities earlier that day. We had pizza for dinner, opened our new jammies, sang Christmas songs, read Luke 2, listened to a book my mom sent Griff, and drove through Washington Park to see the Christmas light display. After Ry left for work, we watched a movie and had hot chocolate. Griffin was super excited for Santa to come so he willingly went to bed that night. Griff's excitement for Christmas this year made it so fun!

Or you can call exactly 1 month ahead at exactly 4pm to get a reservation. You must have at least 6 people to make a reservation. Kinda crazy and tedious but seriously worth it! The crust was perfect in every way. The toppings were fresh and full of flavor. It's gourmet pizza that will knock your socks off. I dream of going back as soon as I can visit AZ again.

Hudson is 4 months old today!
He went to the doctor on Friday and weighs 14lbs. 5oz.
He LOVES to suck on his fingers while slobber runs down his chin.
He is so smiley and has the cutest laugh.
He loves to eat and poop and eat and poop again.
He likes to wake me up at least twice during the night to eat.
He loves to watch his brother.
Whenever I put him down, he follows me with his eyes.
And when Ryan holds him, he stares at me the whole time.
He still cries when I eat or sit at the computer. It's like he knows.
He is so sweet.
I have a crush on him.
We love our bubbas to pieces!

Sunday Night

We had a good Sunday today. We got an extra hour of sleep with the time change, went to church, had Jo Lene's yummy taco salad for dinner, talked to birthday girl Nat, did a Thanksgiving activity, watched home videos, loved on the Bubbas and laughed. I love a good Sunday.

I told Ry to take a picture of us so I could see my hair. I know, nerd. Trying to decide if I should keep growing it or not....???

We made a turkey and wrote what we are thankful for on the feathers. Griff's: noodles, grandma and grandpa, cousins, nursery, toys and iphone. Can't forget the iphone.

I can't get enough of this boy. Sometimes I want to throw the towel in on days when he is fussy and I barely get my teeth brushed. But then he smiles and coos at me and I melt to pieces. And then there is Griffin who is 3 but acts like he is 16. How does that happen? Like how he whined about having to join in on our Thanksgiving activity. I thought 3 year olds liked this kind of stuff. Makes me nervous for when he really is a teenager.

This year for Halloween, Griff was a monkey and Hudson was a baby in a Halloween onesie. The Albany ward invited the Albany branch to their trunk or treat so we went to that Saturday night. Griffy had so much fun going from car to car getting his loot. He would say "Happy Halloween" instead of trick or treat. It was cute. Despite being in the 40's, we had fun! Yes, as in 40 degrees. Brrr.

The weather here in Albany has been crazy lately. One day its 49 degrees then the next day it's 70. We took full advantage of the 70 degree days but I'm afraid they won't return for a while. The Fall leaves are in full bloom around here making for some gorgeous scenery. Ry had vacation and a light rotation this month so we've(Ry) been busy working on the house and hanging out. It's been so nice to have him around! That will soon change come Monday. Such is the life of a resident.

Ryan's parents were out here in Albany last week. They drove Ryan's car from AZ to NY! How nice are they!! They were able to stop at most of the church history spots then landed at our house. Griffin was SO excited to see his Grandma Jo Lene and Grandpa Dave! He was so hyper the night they got here. It was so great to have them here. We love visitors!! They took Griff to the museum one day so Ry and I could do stuff around the house. They also stayed up late to paint the boys' room for us. So nice. Ryan had vacation time while they were here, so we went to Boston for the weekend. Who knew Boston was so big? We had fun walking part of the red line, eating at Regina's pizza - YUM, playing at the childrens' museum downtown, going to the temple and swimming at the hotel. We can't wait till grandma and grandpa come back!!

The Boston Children's Museum is the best one I've ever seen! So fun for kids.

3 months

This little Bubbas turned 3 months last Friday. I love the newborn stage and soak it in as much as possible. But I also love when 3 months hits. It's a turning point for both the baby and mama. I feel normal again and Hudson is in his groove. He is less fussy, so smiley and just as sweet as can be. Two kids has been a hard adjustment for me. I thought one was a breeze. Two has thrown me for a loop! Mostly the guilt of not being able to play with Griffin as much or hold Hudson all the time. But we are getting the hang of it and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Orange You Glad

Ok, so Albany isn't all that bad. I do love that they actually have seasons here. Especially the Fall season. I love to see the colors of the leaves change. I love the cool, crisp air. (Except when it gets down into the 40's in October). And I love decorating for the holidays.

One of the many things I love about Ry, is that he loves holiday lights just as much as me! He decorated our yard with Halloween lights.

I love Target and their cheap, cute Halloween decorations. Scored a felt Halloween banner for $3.50! (Ignore the cords in the corner. Still organizing around here).

The other morning, Ry sat Hudson on the couch and Griff snuggled up next to him. I, of course, grabbed my camera to capture the cuteness! I love these two so much.

Griffin is such a sweet brother to Hudson. He sings to him when he cries. Puts his binky in when he drops it. Gives him hugs and kisses. And tells him that he loves him. I'm so glad he is so nice to Hudson. Please bless that it lasts!! I'm also glad Griff has done so well with all of the changes we've had. Whenever I get sad about living so far away, he says, "It's ok mom. We will go back. Just be happy!" I love his positive attitude. He keeps me in check.

Hudson is growing so fast. I can't believe he will be 3 months old next week! He is sleeping longer during the night. Thanks goodness. He is so smiley these days. It just melts my heart. When he gets hungry, he goes from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. No waiting around for this guy. He loves rides in the stroller and car. I love our Bubbas so much!

The Rents

It was so fun to have my parents here for 2 whole weeks! They were such a big help. T cleaned, swept, and vacuumed just about everything he could think of. He drove Ry to and from work when I couldn't and kept us on task. L cleaned, mopped, and made sandwiches and english muffins with the best of 'em. She made sure Ry had something to eat before work and gave us hourly weather reports. They kept Griffy entertained and took him on walks each morning. They held Hudson so I could shower or clean. It was quite nice to have 4 extra hands around to do this and that. We miss them and hope they come back soon!!
But don't trip. It wasn't all work while they were here. We managed to squeeze in a few day trips - Sharon, Vermont, Lake George and Saratoga Springs. And 3 trips to Panera and Ben and Jerry's. But who's counting!

We made it to NY!

We got here last Wednesday. I couldn't be happier to be with my husband again!! I cried when I saw him waiting for us in the airport. It was pretty hard being apart for so long. I sure missed him. And so did Griffin. They have been connected at the hip since we got here. It melts my heart to see them together again. My parents came with me to help with the boys and get us organized in our new house. It's been so great to have them here. I almost start crying when I think about them leaving in a few days.

It's very pretty here. Tons of green trees. The weather is great! Warm during the day and cool and breezy at night. It actually feels like the beginnings of Fall! I can't wait to see the leaves change colors. It's an old city so most of the homes are old but so cute. It's very different from AZ. Lots of winding streets. I would be lost without our GPS! I'm slowly getting used to this place. I'm sure it will take some time. We (Ry) are still working on the house. It's coming along. Our house is 80 years old and full of character. Kinda fun for a change.

Our little Hudson boy turned 4 weeks on Thursday!! And to think, he was due this last Wednesday. Crazy. He is so sweet and has stolen my heart for sure.

Nat and Lucy came to visit! It was so fun to have them here. Lucy is adorable and crawling. I miss them!

P.S. My parents, Griffin, Hudson and I are off to Albany in 2 1/2 weeks. Ry just moved into our house and has been painting and fixing some things up before we come. I am having some serious husband withdrawals and cannot wait to be with him again.

P.P.S. My dad and I have become addicted to Sonic's hot fudge sundaes. They are 99 cents after 8pm and are really good. Nuts, whip cream, hot fudge and even a cherry on top. Sold.

Yep, that's right, he's here! Little Hudson decided to come 4 weeks early, much to our surprise!
Here's the recap: Griffin, my parents and I were up in Show Low basking in the cool weather enjoying my last trip up there. I was 36 weeks. We drove up Tuesday night. We played in the rain on Wed. and went out to eat. I was sound asleep Wed. night when all of a sudden at 1:30am I feel a gush. I jump out of bed and hurry to the bathroom thinking, this can't be my water breaking! It just can't! I'm not ready!!! But sure enough, it was. I ran downstairs to tell my parents. We packed the car and headed back to Mesa as fast as we could. I called Ryan in NY and told him to get a flight ASAP. I wasn't having contractions so that was good. We got to the hospital around 7:30am. The doc checked me and I was at a 2 so we started an IV but held off on the pitocin. He knew Ry was flying in so we delayed as long as we could. They eventually started the pitocin and I contracted as long as I could. I got the epidural when Ry boarded the plane in Vegas at 6 and he made it to the hospital at 7:30pm. I delivered at 9:09. So, thankfully, it all worked out!! We are back at my parent's house now and doing great! Now I just have to figure out when to sleep. Hudson is a dream boat and we are so happy to have him join our family!

Last weekend, my parents, Griffin and I drove over to Cali to hang out with Rach, Brett and the kids. They were there for Brett's work conference so we decided to crash their party and join in on the fun. Nat and Lucy drove down from LA for the party. We had so much fun sitting on the beach, then running up the stairs to the pool a thousand times a day! The weather was perfect and so was the trip! Except for Ry not being there with us. We miss him so much.

We had one last hoorah before Ryan had to leave for Albany with our life packed into a U-haul truck. He left Saturday and is hoping to get there by tomorrow night. It's only been 2 days and Griffy and I miss him terribly! Gonna be a long 7 weeks. Anyways, we were able to take a trip to Rocky Point with the Gibb family and then went up to Show Low with my family. We had so much fun with our families. Griffin loves being with his cousins! What are we gonna do without them!

Last Friday, we drove down to Tucson for Ryan's graduation. He is officially Ryan Gibb, MD. Kinda scary. The ceremony was actually really good and Griffy and I got to go up on stage to "hood" Ry. I got a little teary as I was thinking about Ry and his accomplishments and the long road it took him to get here. It was just over 3 years ago when he struggled with his choice of becoming a doctor and took a leave of absence from med school. We packed up and moved to AZ to start anew. Deep down I always knew he'd go back to medicine but I knew he had to make that choice for himself. And he did and I know it's the right one. Except the part about moving to Albany. That can't be right!

I have had several different jobs in my life. I worked at a dry cleaners in high school, then moved on to telemarketing, Gas'n'Go, and a secretary in my early college years. Next, I was a secretary for my bro-in-law's auto glass company. I finally graduated college and got married and worked as an administrative assistant and part-time Gap employee. But throughout my working years, I never felt satisfied or really happy with my job. I knew exactly what I wanted to be in life and it wasn't a secretary or a Gas'n'Go girl, surprise.
It was a mom.
And over 3 years ago, I got my wish and I've never been happier!!

Happy Mother's Day to my fabulous mom! You taught me well and I'm so lucky to have you.
And Happy Mother's Day to my sweet mother-in-law, Jo Lene. You raised an amazing son who I get to call husband. Thanks for being so kind to me.

Trip to Wiscy

A few weekends ago, we took a trip to our old stompin' grounds in Wisconsin to visit some of our med school friends who live there for residency. We had so much fun and loved being with our Wiscy friends. We miss them! This was Griff's first time on an airplane so he was pretty excited to go. We planned our trip around food, of course, and had to eat at all of our favorite spots. Jared took us for a sweet ride on his boat in downtown Milwaukee. Definitely the highlight for Griffin! We had the best time. Thanks again, friends, for making our trip so fun!!

We bought Griffin a monkey backpack/leash for the airport. He loved having backpack and we loved having him on a leash! Win-win.

We had to make a quick stop at White Castle for Ry.

Griffy always loves it when I wash his sheets because that means the mattress becomes a trampoline/landing pad. He wanted me to jump with him but I told him I would take pictures of him instead. He loved looking at the pictures on the camera of him jumping in the air and yelling "cannonball!" He said, "That's a cool one mom!" Love this kid and all of his energy!

I've decided that I love Easter! I love every holiday but Easter is one of my favorites. I love that it welcomes Spring and brings with it lovely weather. I love the reason we celebrate Easter. I love the food, egg hunts, family time and bright colors. It really is a great holiday!

We had dinner, an egg hunt and cookie frosting with the Tucker family at Rach and Brett's house. They have the best backyard so we opted to do it there with the weather being so nice. Nat, Dave and Lucy were in town which made for an egg-stra fun weekend. Lucy may be blind now from the countless picture flashes in her face. What can we say - she is one cute baby! The kids had a blast hunting for eggs and playing till dark. It was a happy Easter indeed!

So, I have been putting off this post for a week now. I'm thinking that if I don't talk about it, it will just go away! Well, I don't think that's going to happen so I might as well share the news. On March 18th, we found out where Ryan matched for residency - Albany, NY. Yes, the farthest place possible. I'm not going to lie and say we are excited. Cause we're not. But we are getting used to it and trying to be positive. I'm just glad the pit in my stomach is finally gone! I was in full panic attack mode for 3 days after we found out. Shortness of breath, crying spells - it was bad! We will be there for 4 years then it's Arizona or bust!

After we got the news about residency, we needed to get out of Dodge, so we headed up to my parent's cabin.

It was just what we needed to get our minds off moving across the country. And Griffin loves the cabin so he was in heaven all weekend.

We will be moving this summer. Ry starts July 1st and I'm due to have the baby the first part of August, so I will stay behind and have the baby here. Ry will come back for the birth then go right back to NY. I will recover for a few weeks then fly out with my parents and the boys to join Ryan in Albany.

Last weekend, my girlfriends and I took a much needed trip up to my parent's cabin for some quality girl time. Boy did we have fun! We talked, ate, laughed, cried, ate some more and talked some more. It was relaxing and rejuvenating. We stayed for 2 nights which was perfect. I love these girls. They are like sisters. Some of us have known each other since birth. Some came around in jr. high. We have so many fun memories together. And we just keep making more. I feel so blessed to call them my friends.

Two weeks ago, Ryan had to go to L.A. to take a required test for 4th year med students. And you know who lives in L.A. - Lucy! So I had no choice but to go with him of course! Griffy too. We had so much fun kissin' on little Lucy and hangin' with Nat and Dave. Ry took his test on Thursday, so Nat and I headed to The Grove to walk around and look for celebs. No such luck. But it was a fun place and we got to ride the trolley and have Pinkberry. My fav frozen yogurt by far! Friday, we went to the Santa Monica Pier and to Tito's Tacos for dinner. Saturday it was raining so we went to a mall then watched the Olympics. Oh and went to Pinkberry again. Couldn't get enough of it. Sunday, we went to church then headed home. We were snug in their apt. and Griff was going stir crazy so he was ready to leave. Thanks to the Todds for the wonderful hospitality. Can't wait to see you in April!!

Happy Birthday!
Yesterday, our Griffy guy turned 3! My how the time flies. He was so excited for his birthday. Every time I would ask him what he wanted for his birthday he would say, "bowling." So that's what we did! He loves bowling and keeps asking to go again and again.
We love our little Griff and feel so lucky to have him as our son! He makes us laugh and keeps us on our toes! Literally. He runs everywhere. He is so curious and loves to ask lots of questions. He loves cars, trucks and trains. His favorite foods are chips, turkey sandwiches, asparagus, candy, strawberry shakes, spaghetti and cheese.
He likes to watch Clifford and Curious George. He loves to ride his plasma car around the house. And he loves to play with the cousins!

So, I turned 30 on the 30th - yes, my golden birthday! I'm kind of in denial and can't believe I'm actually 30. I mean, ten years away from 40. Halfway to 60. Ugh. But, what's a girl to do! I finally decided to look at the bright side and just be happy to be turning 30. It worked for a few minutes. I'm kidding. It's not that bad. I still think like an eighteen year old so I guess that's what matters! See, it's all mental ladies.

As for my birthday festivities, I had the best weekend!! It started off with my mom, Rach, Jen and I going shopping then to dinner Thursday night. Then, Friday Ry took me to a hotel for the night in Scottsdale. We shopped, dined at LGO, sat in the jacuzzi, relaxed, went out for breakfast and had a grand ole time! And to top it off, he surprised me with a very generous present! Lucky me. I told him to make my golden birthday big. He listened. Lucky him.

Confession: I am a total sucker for products sold on infomercials. There, I said it. The other day I was thinking about infomercials and their ability to suck me in and convince me that I will die without their product. Hook, line and sinker. It's bad. Just the other day, I was at the gym and saw an infomercial for Sheer Cover makeup. I left the gym with the number in my cell phone ready to call and order this life changing regimen. Fortunately, my mom is a sucka too and had already purchased Sheer Cover and let me have it because it had been sitting in her "pile" for over a year, unused. And for the record, it did not change my life but I do like it. Anyways, here are some of the products I've purchased over the years...

Not so happy New Year

To celebrate New Years, we decided to go up to my parent's cabin. My parents and sister's family also went up. Backtrack - the Sunday before New Years, I had been bitten by the stomach bug and could not keep anything down all day. Luckily, it was a 24 hour thing and I was better by the morning. So we get up to the cabin on Wednesday night. Everyone is playing and laughing and happy. The calm before the storm, if you will. Midnight hit and Griff was the first one to go. He threw up all night and into the next day. Thursday was New Year's Eve and he hadn't barfed all day so we all went out for dinner. Not a good choice. He lost it during dinner. We went back to the cabin to watch the ball drop. That night, Walker and Wyatt threw up. The next day, Emery, my mom, Rach, and Ryan all joined in on the fun. That night, Brett got it. Everyone was dropping like flies! People were on the ground with bowls. It was kind of comical. My dad and Tucker were the last men standing. We packed up Saturday to head home and that's when it hit my dad. Unreal. Tucker came away unscathed, the skinny one with the picky appetite. Needless to say, 2009 went out with a bang!

We did the Tucker Christmas Eve dinner and program the Sunday before Christmas. We had our traditional ham dinner with all the fixings. We acted out the Nativity, sang songs, opened pajamas and rode around in the back of my dad's truck to see lights. It's always chaotic but always fun!

Last Saturday was my mama's birthday! My mom, Rach and I were in LA visiting Lucy so we celebrated there with some Sprinkle cupcakes and PF Chang's takeout. Happy Birthday hot mama!!

Last Thursday, Rach and I drove over to LA to meet Miss Lucy. My oh my is this girl sweet! We literally watched her sleep, eat and poop all day. We just stared at her all day long. We couldn't get enough of her! She smelled delicious. I love the newborn smell. She is adorable and such a good baby. Nat is a natural at being a mama. It was so great to see her in action. Thank you, Nat and Dave, for letting us smother your baby for a few days! I'm already having Lucy withdrawals. Luckily, they'll be here for Christmas!

Today is my dad's birthday. Happy Birthday Dad!!

I love my dad for so many reasons.
He is one of a kind.
He genuinely cares about other people.
He is a people person.
He will talk to anyone about anything.
He is a major sports fan. If you get him talking about sports, you better grab a chair.
He loves the UofA and all of its paraphernalia.
He goes to the gas station everyday to get a diet pepsi. Sometimes twice. And he always shares.
He loves to go to lunch.
He loves his grandkids and babysits them often. Not many grandpas will do that.
He loves the beach. He passed it on to me.
He has a positive attitude and likes to have fun.
He likes to shop. Nothing better than a sale at Dillard's for Big T.
He has more shirts, sweaters, jackets, visors/hats, and ties than Krispie Kreme has donuts.
He is a busy body. Always running errands, sweeping, going to Wal-mart, etc.
He is such a good example to our family.
He does his Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve.
He gets teased a lot by his kids and takes it like a champ.
He will fix anything with Elmer's glue or duct tape.
He loves his Franklin planner and writes his tasks in it daily.
He is and always has been strong member of the church.
He loves my mom and treats her well.

Last weekend, we decided to take a trip to LA to see Natty-girl and Dave. We wanted to go before baby-girl arrives. We had so much fun! Here is what we did:

Went to Venice Beach. It was pretty much freezing that day so we just hung out on the sand and walked along the boardwalk. Bunch of crazies there.

Took Naps on the beach.

Got our frizz on.

Hung out at the apartment.

Celebrated Nat's 26th birthday and went out to Cheesecake Factory.

Took a little tour of the UCLA campus. Dave is getting his MBA there. It's such a pretty campus! Got our frizz on there too.

Stuffed ourselves at dinner and topped it off with a generous slice of red velvet cheesecake!

Other activities include: Tito's Tacos, Diddy Riese, Century City Mall, driving by stars' homes, walking around the promenade, getting locked out of the apt, trip to Chubby's bike store, church - Nat and Dave spoke, eating ourselves sick, Dave's delish homemade waffles, walks, soaking in the fabulous weather, and dry heaving at the smell of Asian food throughout the apt complex.

So, I guess the saying "like father, like son" is true. If you don't already know, Ryan is in love with Apple computers or anything Apple for that matter. He doesn't have an iphone yet and it is killing him. However, our bro-in-law, Brett, does have an iphone and guess who is obsessed with it?? That's right, Griffin. And, yes, he's only 2 and a half.

The minute Griff sees Brett he is begging to play with his iphone. One night we were at Rach and Brett's and Griffin was playing with the iphone. It was time to leave so we told Griffin the iphone had to go night-night. He of course started crying and asked in his sad voice if he could kiss the iphone good night. Which he did. He then proceeded to roll around on the couch crying, "I want an iphone."

The other day, Griffin was talking about Brett's iphone and he asked Ryan where his iphone was. Ryan said, "I don't have an iphone." Then Griffin pointed to the remote for the mac mini and said, "Is that your imote daddy?" Classic.
